Animations

For 3D class we had to make 6 animations, but my machinama contains more then 6.
The animations done so far include:
- jumping to get over a wall
- Dodging a projectile
- Using the Relics power
- Idle
- Running
- Confused Shrug
- Wiping Brow
- Victory Pose

There's still quite a few more to do, but the ones completed are harder to animate. so doing the rest shouldn't take too long.

GUARD 3d models

To make the guard 3d models in time ill need to use the base 3d model i have that i used to make semaj. By doing so ill save lots of time and the scaling will be accurate. I will use the same method for modeling Lord Vesu Vius. with little time left the end result of the textures may not be as good as Semaj's but that is to be expected at this point in time

Audio

As for the Sounds that will be heard through out the Machinima, There will be the voices of the characters, some sound effects will be used also, example is sound of footsteps running, and gun fire. There will be a background track that will be playing to help set the mood. Due to the use of the background track i wont be using any ambient sounds. But i believe the track will be enough for the audiences entertainment.

Some Background Story

Here's some background story concerning the evil lord vesu vius.
He serves under a good king that has control over 5 small villages aswell as his kingdom.
Vesu is one of 4 lordships that advises the king to take certain actions when needed.
Vesu Vius is a very power hungry man, and controls the kings army, an army which will do anything that Vesu commands. With this loyalty Lord Vius begins attacking the small villages surrounding the kingdom so that they will serve under him instead of the King. Once he has control over all the small villages Vesu would have enough power to overthrow the king.
So he begins his attack and takes control over the first two villages without any trouble.
But a person from the 2nd village managed to escape and warn near by villages of what is happening. So when Vesu's guards surrounded Semaj's village he knew what was going to happen and knew he had to stop it from happening.
Lord Vius also likes to research documents about the villages he is about to attack. One piece of information that caught his interest was that there was a myth that a relic containing great power was hidden in a near by tomb. So While his guards begin surrounding the village he decide to try and find the relic to increase his chances of over throwing the king.

Project name

The name i have chosen for my Machinima will be
"Semaj's Adventure"
Semaj is the name of the main character in the story. In the story he sets out to save his village from destruction from a evil lord that is very power hungry. So the machinima name is very basic and tells the viewer that this Semaj character is the one that sets out on the adventure.

Cave Level

Ive begun making the cave level for my machinima. So far i have imported all my objects and now just have to add the right textures to the walls, what you see in this picture is just a temporary texture. however the textures on the pillars are there to stay.

MAP AREAS

The Locations needed to be made for the machinima include The Castle Library, Semaj's Hometown, Forrest and the Dungeon/Tomb. the houses for the Town will be made in 3ds max aswell as the trees for the forrest. the terrain side of those areas will need to be constructed in the UT editor. The Library will be mostly made in 3ds max and imported as objects. and the dungeon will be made using the UT editor. I will start making the environments shortly.

UT Model Testing

In 3D class we tried to get out player models into UT using the UT animations. unfortunately my characters import didn't turn out successful. The scale was not correct and my player was 2x bigger then normal. With a little help from Christian i managed to get him in the right size. No screen shots yet as i have to redo the rigging of the skeleton. Will get some up on this blog when the player model is working better.

machinima test video

the class was divided into two groups and each group had to make a machinima using what we had in UT2004. Our group decided to make a frogger based machinima where the player has to dodge UT vehicles. It was a good experience to work with a team in making the machinima.

texturing WIP


Heres a start on my texture for my Semaj model,
so far i like how the face is turning out and the white shirt. however the jeans, jacket and the arms still need a lot of work.
Also, the hair is yet to be started.

Sound recording

Last Audio class I recorded my characters lines from my script.
Semaj's voice was myself (James Buckingham)
and Vesu's voice was played by Huggy.
All in all i'm pleased with how the recording session went and the sounds should be very easy to put in my final production of my machinima.

Character Model


Heres a rendered picture of my Semaj character model.
The model itself is completed and at this point in time needs to be textured.
The polygon count is 2224 tris. i set a goal to not go over 3000 as most games that are able to be modified to import custom character models support 3000. So if i wanted to in future i could put this model into other games.

UV MAPS completed


Here is the completed texture map for the UV mapping of my character model of Semaj.
Everything on the model has been mapped out successfully and fitted into this map.
There was still room to fit more UV mapping but i couldn't think of how i could change what i have to make use of the extra space.

SCRIPT

Machinima Script By James Buckingham

LIBRARY

Lord Vesu Vius is at a table looking over some maps of the local area.

Vesu Vius:

Ah ha, another town has surrendered itself to me, after a few more have been conquered then I can begin my attack at the throne!

hahahahaha, this small town to the north east shall be the next target"

OUTSIDE THE LOCAL VILLAGE

Guards begin to set them selves up blocking off any entrances and exits to the town, thereby making sure no one can get in or out of the town

INSIDE THE LOCAL VILLAGE

Semaj begins walking through the town looking for a way out

SEMAJ:

"Those guards think they can take over my town huh. well if I can find the pelte' relic then ill be able to save my village!"

Semaj sees a pile of boxes and uses them to jump over the town wall and runs into the forest

FORREST

Semaj journeys through the forest until he eventually finds the cave known as Pelte's Tomb.

Semaj Enters the Cave.

PELTE'S TOMB

Semaj creeps through the dark dungeon and notices that most of the torches on the wall have recently been lit.

So he gets out his P90 Machine gun and proceeds with caution.

Afar he sees a dark figure in the shadows.

Next thing he knows a missile flies out of the shadows at his direction, and JUST dodges it.

Then the missiles are repeatable shot at him from the same direction.

Semaj Dashes out of the way and begins running and finds refuge behind a stone pillar.

Semaj then jumps out and runs towards the shooter while dodging the missiles, then he jumps in the air and shoots at the enemy.

Bringing the enemy down to his knee he gets closer and discovers that the enemy is Lord Vesu Vius searching for the same relic that he is.

VESU VIUS:

"Noo, I Refuse to Lose when I’ve come this far to getting my hands on that throne!!

I am one of the Four Lords of the Kabokin Kingdom!! I Will not lose to some punk Kid!"

Vesu Vius raises his gun and begins firing at Semaj

Semaj quickly jumps over the missiles and rolls in front of Vesu Vius and shoots at his hand

Vesu Vius drops his gun, which Semaj quickly picks up. Aims both weapons at Lord Vius and fires at point blank range.

Vesu Vius Falls to the ground dead.

Semaj continues on to the next room of the dungeon and finds the relic that he was after and once obtaining it quickly hurries back to his village

OUTSIDE LOCAL VILLAGE

Semaj runs towards the position of the guards and points the relic in their direction hoping for the best.

the guards turn their attention towards Semaj and prepare to fire, meanwhile the relic begins glowing and starts shooting out magic like sparks towards the knights which sends all the guards falling to the ground on fire.

Semaj saves the day!!

Project overview

Lord Vesu Vius is planing to over throw the king and take over the kingdom. By achieving this he begins taking over small towns and villages surrounding the kingdom, to avoid any suprise attacks during his invasion.

In my Machinima the main character, Semaj, sets out to save his village from this evil lordship.

In order to do so he must obtain a certain item from a cursed tomb. Will he find it in time to save his village? (yes)

I have started to make the characters that take place in the story.
here is the beginnings of the knight, which in the story follows orders from Lord Vesu Vius.
